Sri Maa Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Baripada, Mayurbhanj, was established in the year 1990, situated in the heart of Baripada Town, with a noble intension to impart higher education to the women students of the District. As Mayurbhaj is a Tribal Subplan area, the College makes an effort to spread higher education to the women students. Besides this, the College also takes care to develop the extra-curricular activities of the women students.
However, the College is a growing Institution which tries its level best to establish the women empowerment and to some extent it has been able to fulfil its aims and objectives. The College is affiliaated to C.H.S.E., Odisha, Bhubaneswar and North Odisha University, Takatpur, Baripada and provides teaching facility at the +2 Arts, + 2 Vocational, +2 Science & +3 Arts Streams.
The Emblem of the College highlights the ideal and the noble mission of the whole of the mankind. Empowering the youth culture of Mayurbhanj district, emphasizing their glowing potentialities, the institution has cherished a basis of eliminating ignorance, blind beliefs and social evils. Lady with a lamp in folded hand expresses the power of women to enlighten the society and the nation.
The open book, the inkpot with reed pen throws light on development of the four fold objectives (Listening, speaking, reading and writing) of education.
The reed pen in form of the feather of a peacock signifies aesthetic sensibilities of the mind and spirit of women, especially in Mayurbhanj the antique princely state of Odisha.
The thin stripes inside the circle of the glow of the lamp proclaims the humbleness, tolerance, patience, sanctity and
benevolence of the students and the working personnel.
